Campus Area Network (CAN)
Infrastructure Programme Management

Dubai Airports’ Campus Area Network (CAN) is a ‘Highly Resilient, Multi-Service, Carrier Grade’ Network Infrastructure. The CAN initiative aims to ensure that the current legacy IT network equipment across the entire campus is replaced and upgraded to a single Campus Area Network. The CAN comprises of both wired and wireless infrastructure and will service the entire Airport and its Stakeholders.
The Olio CAN team has been delivering the overall programme management as well as technical project delivery for the CAN components (Core, Distribution and Access layers). Members of the Olio team is also managing the complete installation of new Wireless Access Points across all terminals and concourses, including back of house and the airfield.
The Olio team have been supporting this project for many years through the design stages and overseeing the start of the implementation stage. In 2016, the team managed the installation of the Core switches and commenced the roll out of the new Distribution switches. They also managed the installation of several hundred Wireless Access Points, which are a major component of Dubai Airports’ improved Customer Service initiatives including its promoted “Wow-Fi” initiative.

The Olio team has worked incredibly hard to ensure zero downtime in a 24/7 live environment. It is a testament to the expertise and technical ability of the CAN team in how they have overseen the replacement of this legacy hardware. Particularly given that it needs to happen without a break in the service of critical passenger-facing systems.
